This medal is made for FIDEM MMXIV, held in Namur (Belgium). The medal is shaped like a buoy, a reference to recent events in these turbulent times, with political and communal aggression and financial distress and more specifically, refugees drowning at sea while politicians bicker about terms and conditions for charity and peace. The biblical verse Matthew 22:39 is used on both sides of the medal, for FIDEM in Dutch on one side and French on the other. – A message to the people of Belgium who live in a country that has struggled for years to form a cabinet, due to insurmountable issues between the Flemish and Walloon population.
